• ABOUT ME

Bruce G. Phillips, MS

For more than 25 years, I’ve explored the paleoenvironment through microfossils, soils, and landscape reconstructions, and the process of discovery is always fascinating. By reconstructing past environments at archaeological sites, I help bridge the gap between artifacts and matrix. As a geoarchaeologist and archaeobotanist, I view subsistence strategies through the lens of the landscape and interpret how past peoples related to their ecosystems.

I’ve worked with dozens of clients on more than 250 projects across the American Southwest and beyond. I have rich experience in archaeology, palynology, archaeobotany, micropaleontology (diatoms), Quaternary sedimentology, geomorphology and geoarchaeology, limnology, paleoclimatology, technical report writing and editing, project and personnel management, and data management. I work intimately with clients to develop integrated, interdisciplinary scopes of work appropriate to project needs, with a critical eye toward budgets and timeframes. Contact me today to learn how my expertise can enhance your project.
